ABOUT

“The value of the myth is that it takes all the things we know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by ‘the veil of familiarity’.”

– CS Lewis

Hi! Thanks for stopping by… I write stories for children and the young at heart.

After many years working in the creative communications field – designing, writing, and animating – I stepped away for a while to focus on writing my own stories. I read and read and wrote and wrote, and now have picture books, picture storybooks, and long and short chapter books available for review. My work gravitates toward historical fiction, the natural world, cultural experiences, and especially talking animals – everything I loved to read as a child (and still do).

I was born in Michigan on the coast of Lake Michigan, but grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. I’ve lived in Zurich, Switzerland; Peterborough, New Hampshire; and Nashville, Tennessee, and somehow landed, once again, near Lake Michigan. (Its beauty never ceases to amaze me.)

One of my greatest joys is spotting wildlife from my writing window: deer, wild turkeys, box turtles, northern flickers, great blue herons, and fireflies. And, of course, the busy business of squirrels, chipmunks, and rabbits is a constant inspiration. It’s a wonder-full world.
